Just to make it equal, since last Friday was dedicated to female singers, I will dedicate this one to male singers! These can either be solo singers or bands with a male vocalist. The list will be in no particular order since it was hard enough to only pick five out of all the artists and bands I listen to.

  1. Highly Suspect – Johnny Stevens has one of the nicest voices I know of and they perform incredible songs on top of it all. The band has been active since 2009, but I only discovered them a few years ago. I’m really happy that I did though because their songs and their music videos are absolutely amazing. I don’t think I could ever praise them enough. My favorite song is called “Bath Salts”, but I thought I could share this song, since the music video is really nice!
  2. Hurts – I discovered them through the Deep Dark Indie playlist, like I did with many of the female artists on my other list. Hurts is a synth-pop duo from the UK and their vocalist is great. His voice reminds me of many others but it’s still different from the rest too.
  3. Jaymes Young – I used to be such a fan of his music, and suddenly my interest dropped a bit. But I still thing he has one of the most pleasant voices to listen to. I especially used to love his song “Moondust”, one which he also made an acoustic version of.
  4. I See Stars – I guess it’s no surprise anymore that i enjoy clean vocals, so this one is another great addition to the list. It’s not really a band I listen to regularly, but whenever I do I’m always blown away by the vocals.
  5. Blink 182 – Does anyone not like Tom Delonge’s vocals? I mean, I have loved his vocals ever since Blink first started making music and I don’t think I will ever stop! Even though they have had a lot of silly songs, his vocals are still good. Just going to share this song because I still listen to it every day. It also helps that the music video is stunning. I love all 1920-1930’s aesthetic.

What would your top 5 list look like?

When it comes to skincare, I rarely change how I do it, but I like switching out the products and trying new brands or items from brands I already know. I have been using the same products for a long time so I thought it was time to switch things out and try some new things out. Here’s what I got and my first impressions of them.

♥ Simple – Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water

This is a micellar water cleanser, and I love to use these. I have been using one from Garnier but I felt like it was time for something new. The major difference for me was that this one actually had a scent, compared to the Garnier one which was practically unscented. It’s not terrible though, and it does make my skin feel just as cleansed and nice as the other one did. So I’ll give it a 9/10.

♥ Nivea – Soothing Toner For Dry Skin

This one was a bit weird! It totally smells like the Nivea body lotion I used before so it was odd to have that scent for a toner. It is soothing though, and my skin feels a bit more hydrated and not as tight after using it so it works well enough. I used to use a tea tree toner water so having something that isn’t actively combatting breakouts and spots feels a bit weird but so far I haven’t noticed any changes in my skin. I’ll give this a 8/10.

♥ L’Oreal – Hydra Genius Aloe Water

This is a slightly weird one! It’s not a water, it’s not a cream and it is not a gel. I guess it’s like those water creams you hear about in k-beauty, but it is a nice texture. It feels slightly cooling on the skin and it does make my skin feel really hydrated, so I like it a lot! It is light weight and it works nicely under make up as long as you give it a few minutes to dry first, of course. I’ll give this a 9/10.

♥ Korres – Wild Rose Sleeping Facial Night Cream

This is a very floral scented night cream. I’m not sure what I expected from the scent wild rose but I didn’t expect it to be so potent. It’s not terrible though, it’s just a bit stronger than what I am used to. It is a fairly thick night cream so I only use a little bit at a time to avoid my skin from feeling too greasy the morning after. It works pretty well! I’ll give this one a 8/10.

♥ Dove – Nutrium Moisture Shower Cream Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena Scent

I adore Dove shower creams and milks and this is no exception! It smells so sweet and fresh at the same time and it is very hydrating and soothing to use in the shower. The scent lingers for a while too so that is a plus! I think all Dove shower creams would get an automatic 10/10 from me, I haven’t encountered any bad ones yet.

I also received a sample with my order, which was for the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser. I haven’t tried this yet since I am still getting used to the new products I’m using now, but I am very excited to give it a go after a while.

Have you tried any of these products? What do you think about them?

So lately there has been an influx of vegetarian and vegan products in the grocery stores here, something I’m happy about! There is a lot of vegan products that I can’t use because I’m allergic to Soy products, but recently there has been a lot of new products based on pea protein and other things that are completely soy free. A store chain here in Norway called Coop has released a whole lot of different things like beet burgers, mushroom burgers, corn sliders and what I had for dinner the other day, seasoned taco stuffing made from pea protein. They also have campaigns for meat free Mondays where they share recipes you could try and I really love this change. I’m not fully vegan but I go meat free as often as I can, gradually cutting down on my consumption when I find replacements that are soy free.

Here’s what I had, it totally looks meat, doesn’t it? My dad thought it was, stole a few pieces from the leftovers I brought them and was weirded out by the texture. It does taste great though and it worked well with tortillas, vegan cheese and iceberg lettuce. I usually have a lot more mixed in with my tacos but I couldn’t be bothered to go to the store to buy even more. Sometimes simple meals are the best meals. Do you ever choose vegan options over regular options? If you don’t then you should try it! You’ll feel better about choosing a more healthy lifestyle, just make sure to do it right.

All you gotta do is fry it in some oil or butter for a few minutes.

As you can see on the tubes, they’re very different in color there!

I have always loved a slightly purple lip color, and I have been using the Wet ‘n Wild Megaslicks lip gloss in “That’s My Jam” for quite a while. Recently I decided I should try a different shade just to shake things up a bit so I decided to Purchase a Nyx Butter Gloss in “Devil’s Food Cake”, expecting it to be in the brown-ish range of shades since the name is literally a type of chocolate cake.

You can see the warm tone / cool tone difference here.

I was very surprised when I first tried it though because it turns out it is almost identical to the one I was already using so there wasn’t much of a change at all! The Nyx Butter Gloss is a tiny bit warmer than the Wet ‘n Wild Megaslicks gloss but that is the only difference I can see, on the lips they look very similar. In the picture below, I have used the Wet ‘n Wild gloss on the top half and the Nyx Buter Gloss on the bottom half. I don’t know if staring at it has made me color blind but I can’t really tell them apart. The shadow on my upper lip kind of gives the color a more warm shade to make them even more similar.

I guess ending up with a better smelling dupe isn’t the worst thing in the world, but I admit I was feeling a bit upset because I pretty much ended up buying the same exact product for a few dollars more. I guess the scent makes up for it, plus it seems like the Nyx gloss stays on the lips for longer so I will probably end up using it more than the other. Next time I will triple check the colors before purchasing anything online, or try to find a store here that sells the brands. The latter is probably not likely to happen since Norway seems to have a preference for Maybelline, L’oreal and Max Factor, so online shopping is usually what I have to go for since there are no other options.

Have you ever ended up purchasing an accidental dupe? How did you feel about it?

For over a year now I have been growing out my fringe, wanting it to eventually become as long as my hair, slowly cutting off little by little of my hair to let it catch up. I was really happy with how long it had become, longer than halfway down my face and it had started to pick up the curliness that the rest of my hair naturally has before i blow dry it. But today after work, I had just showered, dried my hair and when I looked in the mirror.. I just picked up a pair of scissors and gave myself a choppy, disheveled looking fringe, just the way I used to have it. I have no idea why I did it and I kind of regret it. I know I loved to have short bangs but I wanted the whole “Long, black and middle parted hair” kind of aesthetic. I guess I will just have to go back to growing it out, hoping that my hair gets super long in the meantime. At least now I wont have to have my fringe pinned back all the time, I guess my scalp is relieved that the hair is lying in the right direction. Have you had any episodes where you spontaneously cut your hair for no apparent reason?
