Summer-Wallpaper-HD-for-desktop-windows

I stumbled upon this list of summer themed “Would you rather?” questions and thought I could share them here! I’m going to tag a few people at the end of this, but anyone who wants to do this can absolutely do so! If you want to share your post for it, feel free to leave a link in the comments below. You can find the original list here if you want to copy it directly from the source, or alternatively at the bottom of this post.

Now, would you rather . . .

  1. live in a tree house or a castle? I would totally live in a castle! I have always been fond of medieval history and architecture, and being able to live in an actual castle would be awesome! Plus, there are listings for castles in Europe that can be cheaper than apartments in large cities around the world.
  2. be able to sing beautifully or dance beautifully? As much as I love singing, I think I would actually choose dancing for this one! I always love watching people dance because they’re both elegant and insanely cool looking at the same time. I always find it funny how ballerinas can be so graceful when they dance, and when they’re just doing normal things they can be super clumsy like the rest of us.
  3. ride a horse or a camel? I can’t handle heat that well, and camels are usually used in very warm places, so for this I think I would choose to ride a horse since I could use it back home where it’s not as warm.
  4. know a fairy or a unicorn? I really want to say a unicorn, but honestly, knowing a fairy would be really cool. Sure, a unicorn could probably make me live forever, but I’m not really sure if I would want that. Life is long enough for me as it is, honestly.
  5. have a backyard that was a huge bounce house or a huge ball pit? Have you heard horror stories about people suffocating to death in ball pits? I have, so I would have to choose a bounce house/bouncy castle.
  6. travel or stay home? This would entirely depend on my mood! A lot of the time I would love to travel, but sometimes I would just want to stay at home and enjoy what I have here. I have been travelling for most of the past summers but this year I will stay at home.
  7. be able to fly or be able to breathe under water? I would choose to breathe under water! Definitely minimizing my risk of ever drowning, plus it would be cool to be able to go snorkeling without a snorkel.. Or just explore the ocean in general. Now the question is; will this give me gills?
  8. know where you’re going or have it be a surprise? I would definitely like to know! I have a lot of allergies and other medical needs I need to tend to and prepare for so spontaneous trips are not for me.
  9. be on a boat or on an airplane? I would rather be on an airplane! I get sea sick or have motion sickness too easily. Luckily it never triggers when I’m on an airplane during the turbulence.
  10. be able to see in the dark or be able to never get tired? I can’t even remember what it was like to never feel tired, it’s like a constant state now! But does this mean you never sleep? I mean, if i can still keep a regular sleep schedule without feeling dead tired during the day then sure! If not then I would rather see in the dark.
  11. go on a vacation to the beach or to the mountains? I would love to go to the mountains! I visited the mountains in Scotland some years ago and I loved it a whole lot! Nature up there is so beautiful and I would love to experience it again. We stayed over new years so I got to experience an authentic gaelic new years celebration too.
  12. have picnics in the forest or in the park? I feel like picnics are mostly for the park, while having an outdoor barbecue or bonfire night would be more of a forest activity where I live.
  13. swim in the ocean or swim in a pool? I would rather swim in the ocean! I’m not very fond of the chlorine used in swimming pools so I would rather swim in salt water!
  14. be a dolphin or a cheetah? Being able to run really fast would be cool! It would also be cool to be agile in water, but the risk of getting eaten by an orca terrifies me. I have a lot of irrational fears, I guess you can tell!
  15. be able to make people laugh or be able to make people trust you? I want to pick both for this! However, ultimately it would be better for people to trust me than just to find me funny.
  16. be surprised by a present or be able to pick what you get? I don’t mind surprises as long as it’s not something I really shouldn’t open in the presence of others when at a party, for example.
  17. eat popsicles or watermelon? I would rather eat a slightly chilled watermelon! It’s my favorite snack in the summer and it always makes me stay extra hydrated in the summer heat. If you eat something really cold your body usually responds by trying to heat you up again anyways.
  18. go camping or stay in a hotel? This depends on where and when! For longer journeys I would prefer a hotel, but for like a weekend I would prefer to go camping!
  19. do art or read? I would rather read. I’m not good at art even though I majored in Interior design and did a lot of art projects during the first two years. I guess my passion is there but I’m lacking the physical skill.
  20. experience an epic waterslide or an epic zip line? I would choose a water slide! I’m scared of heights so a zip line would probably terrify me!

Here are the questions so you can copy them!

  1. live in a tree house or a castle?
  2. be able to sing beautifully or dance beautifully?
  3. ride a horse or a camel?
  4. know a fairy or a unicorn?
  5. have a backyard that was a huge bounce house or a huge ball pit?
  6. travel or stay home?
  7. be able to fly or be able to breathe under water?
  8. know where you’re going or have it be a surprise?
  9. be on a boat or on an airplane?
  10. be able to see in the dark or be able to never get tired?
  11. go on a vacation to the beach or to the mountains?
  12. have picnics in the forest or in the park?
  13. swim in the ocean or swim in a pool?
  14. be a dolphin or a cheetah?
  15. be able to make people laugh or be able to make people trust you?
  16. be surprised by a present or be able to pick what you get?
  17. eat popsicles or watermelon?
  18. go camping or stay in a hotel?
  19. do art or read?
  20. experience an epic waterslide or an epic zip line?

I will tag and challenge these lovely people to complete this list of their own:

  1. Michala
  2. Rei
  3. Lisa
  4. Karalee
  5. Hitherdither
  6. Halsdoll
  7. Alifya
  8. Simon (to get some gender diversity in here 😉 )
  9. Danniijane (A beautiful thing)

Every summer I usually splurge a bit on a few new books to keep myself entertained when it’s too warm outside. This summer has been way warmer than any in my recent memory so I decided to just go to the book store to take advantage of the Air Conditioner there, and to find a few new reads. I noticed they had a 3-for-2 deal on English pocket books (pocket means paperback here). Books here are fairly expensive, these retailed for 149 NOK (roughly 17 dollars) per piece, so I’m glad the third was free. I chose a good variety of books, Armada being the thinnest at 368 pages, and American Gods being the thickest at 736 pages. I’m really looking forward to read all of them! I also picked up a moisturizing face mask, and a hypoallergenic mascara from Isadora at the drugstore next door from the book store. I usually use the Lush Eyes Right mascara, but mine had dried out and this one was on sale so i opted to go for that instead.

Neil Gaiman – American Gods

Locked behind bars for three years, Shadow did his time, quietly waiting for the day when he could return to Eagle Point, Indiana. A man no longer scared of what tomorrow might bring, all he wanted was to be with Laura, the wife he deeply loved, and start a new life. But just days before his release, Laura and Shadow’s best friend are killed in an accident. With his life in pieces and nothing to keep him tethered, Shadow accepts a job from a beguiling stranger he meets on the way home, an enigmatic man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday. A trickster and a rogue, Wednesday seems to know more about Shadow than Shadow does himself. Life as Wednesday’s bodyguard, driver, and errand boy is far more interesting and dangerous than Shadow ever imagined. Soon Shadow learns that the past never dies…and that beneath the placid surface of everyday life a storm is brewing – an epic war for the very soul of America – and that he is standing squarely in its path.

Ernest Cline – Armada

Zack Lightman has spent his life dreaming. Dreaming that the real world could be a little more like the countless science-fiction books, movies, and videogames he’s spent his life consuming. Dreaming that one day, some fantastic, world-altering event will shatter the monotony of his humdrum existence and whisk him off on some grand space-faring adventure. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little escapism, right? After all, Zack tells himself, he knows the difference between fantasy and reality. He knows that here in the real world, aimless teenage gamers with anger issues don’t get chosen to save the universe.

And then he sees the flying saucer.

Even stranger, the alien ship he’s staring at is straight out of the videogame he plays every night, a hugely popular online flight simulator called Armada—in which gamers just happen to be protecting the earth from alien invaders. No, Zack hasn’t lost his mind. As impossible as it seems, what he’s seeing is all too real. And his skills—as well as those of millions of gamers across the world—are going to be needed to save the earth from what’s about to befall it. It’s Zack’s chance, at last, to play the hero. But even through the terror and exhilaration, he can’t help thinking back to all those science-fiction stories he grew up with, and wondering: Doesn’t something about this scenario seem a little…familiar?

Erin Morgenstern – The Night Circus

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it, no paper notices plastered on lampposts and billboards. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within these nocturnal black-and-white striped tents awaits an utterly unique, a feast for the senses, where one can get lost in a maze of clouds, meander through a lush garden made of ice, stare in wonderment as the tattooed contortionist folds herself into a small glass box, and become deliciously tipsy from the scents of caramel and cinnamon that waft through the air.

Welcome to Le Cirque des Rêves.

Beyond the smoke and mirrors, however, a fierce competition is under way–a contest between two young illusionists, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood to compete in a “game” to which they have been irrevocably bound by their mercurial masters. Unbeknownst to the players, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will.

As the circus travels around the world, the feats of magic gain fantastical new heights with every stop. The game is well under way and the lives of all those involved–the eccentric circus owner, the elusive contortionist, the mystical fortune-teller, and a pair of red-headed twins born backstage among them–are swept up in a wake of spells and charms.

But when Celia discovers that Marco is her adversary, they begin to think of the game not as a competition but as a wonderful collaboration. With no knowledge of how the game must end, they innocently tumble headfirst into love. A deep, passionate, and magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands. Their masters still pull the strings, however, and this unforeseen occurrence forces them to intervene with dangerous consequences, leaving the lives of everyone from the performers to the patrons hanging in the balance.

After visiting both the book store and the drug store, I decided to stop by H&M  to see if I could find any eye shadows on sale, as recommended by Lisa. I found two that were on sale for 10 NOK (roughly a dollar each) and one for 20 NOK (two dollars). You could see two of these being used in my previous blog post about a bold eye look. I didn’t show any swatches there, so I thought I could include them here! The purple and the blue shades were impressive, but I was a tiny bit disappointed with how sheer the green shade was. Like you would expect a more christmas-y green from that pan, right? Or is it just me having too big expectations?

20170616_135555

I guess I can’t really complain since they were so cheap to begin with! And I will continue to use it in combination with the green shade from the Maybelline 24k palette anyways.

Have you treated yourself to something nice lately?

With having the Elder Scrolls series banked as my favorite game franchise, it would be odd if I didn’t spend some time talking about their multiplayer game. I pre-ordered the game, tried it at its release in 2014 and hated it. It didn’t have the Elder Scrolls feeling (people who have played it would know what I mean), and I decided to just give it a year to settle in. A lot of online multiplayer games have a rough launch so after a year I decided to try it again  after they also released it on consoles, and I fell in love. They had made a lot of changes, fixed a lot of bugs with patches and I was excited to get into it. Here’s an excerpt from the wikipedia page to give you some information about the game:

As in previous The Elder Scrolls titles, gameplay is mostly nonlinear, with a mixture of quests, random events, and free-roaming exploration of the world. The game does not provide a mode for single-player offline play, although the developers stated that there would be “plenty of content” designed to accommodate players who prefer to play solo. The player is able to play as ten different races; four different varieties of humans: Nords, Redguards, Bretons, and Imperials; Elvish varieties: Dunmer (Dark Elves), Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves) and Orsimer (Orcs); and more bestial races: the Khajiiti and Argonians. Players must choose one of four classes when creating their character. Each class gives the player various different attacks, spells, and passive effects. The game has other character choices beyond those of race and class, such as the player character also being able to become either a vampire or a werewolf, each of which grants its own skill tree.

As with other games in The Elder Scrolls series, the game is set on the continent of Tamriel. The events of the game occur a millennium before those of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and around 800 years before The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It has a broadly similar structure to Skyrim, with two separate conflicts progressing at the same time, one with the fate of the world in the balance, and one where the prize is supreme power on Tamriel. In The Elder Scrolls Online, the first struggle is against the Daedric Prince Molag Bal, who is attempting to meld the plane of Mundus with his realm of Coldharbour, and the second is to capture the vacant imperial throne, contested by three alliances of the mortal races. The player character has been sacrificed to Molag Bal, and Molag Bal has stolen their soul; the recovery of which is the primary game objective.

Many parts of the continent of Tamriel are available in the game, with most zones being accessible based on faction. Some zones are accessible with DLC-only from the Crown Store, while others are accessible to players of any faction when they reach a certain level. Players have the opportunity to join any of the three factions warring over the Ruby Throne of the Emperor of Tamriel: the First Aldmeri Dominion (represented by an eagle) led by Queen Ayrenn, composed of the Altmer (High Elf), Bosmer (Wood Elf), and Khajiit races; the Daggerfall Covenant (represented by a lion) led by High King Emeric, composed of the Bretons, Redguard, and Orsimer (Orcs); and the Ebonheart Pact (represented by a dragon) led by Jorunn Skald-King, composed of the Nord, Dunmer (Dark Elf), and Argonian races. Players may also unlock an additional race, Imperial, which may be a part of any of the three factions. The other major ruling faction of Tamriel is the Empire, led by Empress Regent Clivia Tharn, which has fallen into instability and disrepair, and serves as a non-joinable faction. Pre-ordered copies of the game included the “Explorers’ Pack”, which allowed all races to be played in each of the factions, and this feature is available in the Crown Store.

The game begins in the Wailing Prison in Coldharbor, where the player character’s soulless husk has been enslaved. This opening continues another The Elder Scrolls tradition, of beginning the game with the player as a prisoner. After escaping, the base of operations becomes the Harborage, a cave found at each of the starting cities, and is where the Prophet opens portals to the locations of the main questline. Once the Amulet of Kings is retrieved, the headquarters shift to the Hollow City, a location in central Coldharbour blessed by Meridia. Civilians saved from Coldharbour’s prisons arrive in the Hollow City, and it is from there that attacks on Molag Bal’s controlled areas are orchestrated.

As for the statement where they say there is a lot of content for one to play solo; that is absolutely true! It’s sad to say, but I have played the game solo for years, not grouping up with others for anything but dungeons and I have yet to encounter any issues with playing alone.

I used to play the game on my computer, but I gave in sometime last year and purchased it for my Xbox One too, which ties in with my issue of having to own games on a lot of different platforms. I did a post about that last year, but I can’t seem to find it.. Anyways, there isn’t really a difference between the platforms, I just prefer playing some games on a console where the controller is native, instead of having to use a third party controller where some of the buttons won’t work or wont be mapped right.

My recent Argonian templar character.

The character I currently play as has to be one of my favorites. I had never tried to play as an Argonian before ( I usually just play as a redguard), and I thought I would hate it because the lizard people have always seemed to be so weird with their talk of the hist and whatnot. But I was pleasantly surprised when I leveled up a bit and actually got into the game. There is a quest line in the Hatching Pools where you have to save Argonian eggs from being destroyed and I related to it much more this time around than what I had done before.

My horse is on fire. Literally.

Recently they released a new “chapter” for the game, incorporating the rest of Morrowind. The first thing I did was to go to Seyda Neen to see the iconic Silt Strider that you see when you first start up the “The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind” game itself. It was very fun to see it in “HD” and to relive the memory of booking a journey to either Gnisis or Suran. You also get a whole new world to discover, new quests to do, new recipes to make, new appearances to collect, new furniture and new homes to purchase. I’m really enjoying it, and hoping that the next chapter will be Oblivion, even though a lot of the areas are already in the game. Or maybe more of Skyrim… or.. Elsweyr? I don’t know, I feel like I’m just ranting at this point so it seems like a good place to stop. Have you played any of the Elder Scrolls games before?

My favorite thing to do is to try out weird or bold eye looks, and when I just so happen to find a ‘new’ palette to play with, plus some other colors on the side, I won’t say no. I have spent many hours of my life playing with make up, creating strange eye looks and just wiping it off soon after if I’m not happy with it. A few years ago I used to have a gold and green duo shadow from H&M that I absolutely loved, and the green shade was so dark and suit my eyes so well but I have never found any shades to recreate it ever since, until now. Well, it’s not an exact duplicate of it, but it is close enough!

A bit chunky, but still a good gold shade.

The purple look

First I wanted to just see how crazy I could get with the colors, having purple and gold as my other favorite gold combo, i decided to try to make a look from it too. For some reason gold and purple makes me think of the fictional nation of Orlais, from the Dragon Age universe. Their style is really posh and over the top and that is how the gold/purple combo is making me feel. I first tried to use the purple shade that came with the palette but it just showed up slightly brown, so i guess its taupe? Instead I ended up using a purple eye shadow from H&M that was on sale for 10 NOK (around a dollar). I used a wet brush and it showed up pretty good! It took a few layers to make it as intense as I wanted but it layered well so that was no problem. The gold shade from the palette didn’t layer as well though, Maybelline is pretty notorious for having chalky eye shadows and this was no exception. It gave it some texture, not necessarily what I like in an eye shadow, but at least it had somewhat of a metallic shimmer.

20170616_133745

I focused on making the outer edge more opaque so it looks a tiny bit patch in the crease in the picture below, but it wasn’t noticeable when i had my eyes open so I didn’t really care. I also noticed it’s pretty easy to see that my hair is two different colors now too, I’m growing out the black color so almost half of my hair is a lighter brown color now. All in all I’m pretty happy with how the eye look turned out. Maybe I could have smoked out/blended the edges better but it doesn’t really matter to me if it has a harsh edge.

20170616_133758

The green look

As for the green look, I took a lighter metallic ish shade and layered on top of the gold to mute it a bit, then using a mix of the green shade in the Maybelline palette and a green H&M shade. I was a little bit disappointed since the green shade in the palette wasn’t as pigmented, but I’m sure they were going for a more subtle shade, letting the gold dominate the whole palette. The H&M shade was a whole lot brighter but more sheer so it didn’t do much apart from adding a slight sheen on top of it all. Doing dual colors like this was my favorite thing to do in high school, and I rarely went a day without it in some kind of variety. This look isn’t bold compared to the other so it was way easier to wear it casually, and it still is to this day.

20170616_134754

Being able to find something similar to what I used before has rekindled my love for make up a little bit, and I feel myself wanting to sit down in front of the mirror and play with the colors. Maybe I can end up with a blue and purple eye look too, or blue and gold.. or.. well, time will show! For now I’m just going to replicate this look over and over until i tire from it completely.

Do you have a go-to look? Or did you use to have one that you would love to recreate? Tell me all about it!

I’m sure we all have those days where all we want is to get rid of our make up and go straight to bed. Or maybe we want to stay in bed in the morning instead of going to the bathroom to wash our faces. The former happens a lot to me when I come home after a long day, so having products at hand that I can use without needing any water is great.

20170530_075643

The first thing I do is to use the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. It is very convenient, it doesn’t have to be rinsed off and it removes make up like a dream while still being so gentle to sensitive skin. I just use it with a cotton pad, wipe off my make up and then go over again with a new cotton pad to properly cleanse the skin. Then I spray some of the Tea Tree Toner Water onto a cotton pad and use small circular movements as I apply it to the skin. Then I let it dry for a few minutes before moving onto the next steps.

20170530_075719

After using the toner I move on to moisturizing the skin, and lately I have been loving the Figs & Rouge Hydra Activ Smart Nutrient Day Cream. Even if it is a day cream, I also use it at night because it has been so beneficial for my skin, giving it just enough moisture without making my skin feel greasy. It is great for using under powder make up too since it makes sure that you don’t have any dry patches the powder can adhere to. Under the eyes I use the oOlution Eye Love cream which hydrates, depuffs and tightens the under eye area. I love using it because it always makes me look so awake. It also works great under a concealer because it’s not too heavy so it just makes the area smooth and nice. Lastly I use Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Balm, this one is especially great to apply before bed because it is a thick formula that takes some time to absorb. I always wake up with soft lips after using it and I love it. It also has SPF in it so its great to use during the day too.

So that’s what I use when I don’t want to spend ages in the bathroom to get ready and just need a quick fix! What do you usually use?
