My favorite thing to do is to try out weird or bold eye looks, and when I just so happen to find a ‘new’ palette to play with, plus some other colors on the side, I won’t say no. I have spent many hours of my life playing with make up, creating strange eye looks and just wiping it off soon after if I’m not happy with it. A few years ago I used to have a gold and green duo shadow from H&M that I absolutely loved, and the green shade was so dark and suit my eyes so well but I have never found any shades to recreate it ever since, until now. Well, it’s not an exact duplicate of it, but it is close enough!

A bit chunky, but still a good gold shade.

The purple look

First I wanted to just see how crazy I could get with the colors, having purple and gold as my other favorite gold combo, i decided to try to make a look from it too. For some reason gold and purple makes me think of the fictional nation of Orlais, from the Dragon Age universe. Their style is really posh and over the top and that is how the gold/purple combo is making me feel. I first tried to use the purple shade that came with the palette but it just showed up slightly brown, so i guess its taupe? Instead I ended up using a purple eye shadow from H&M that was on sale for 10 NOK (around a dollar). I used a wet brush and it showed up pretty good! It took a few layers to make it as intense as I wanted but it layered well so that was no problem. The gold shade from the palette didn’t layer as well though, Maybelline is pretty notorious for having chalky eye shadows and this was no exception. It gave it some texture, not necessarily what I like in an eye shadow, but at least it had somewhat of a metallic shimmer.

I focused on making the outer edge more opaque so it looks a tiny bit patch in the crease in the picture below, but it wasn’t noticeable when i had my eyes open so I didn’t really care. I also noticed it’s pretty easy to see that my hair is two different colors now too, I’m growing out the black color so almost half of my hair is a lighter brown color now. All in all I’m pretty happy with how the eye look turned out. Maybe I could have smoked out/blended the edges better but it doesn’t really matter to me if it has a harsh edge.

The green look

As for the green look, I took a lighter metallic ish shade and layered on top of the gold to mute it a bit, then using a mix of the green shade in the Maybelline palette and a green H&M shade. I was a little bit disappointed since the green shade in the palette wasn’t as pigmented, but I’m sure they were going for a more subtle shade, letting the gold dominate the whole palette. The H&M shade was a whole lot brighter but more sheer so it didn’t do much apart from adding a slight sheen on top of it all. Doing dual colors like this was my favorite thing to do in high school, and I rarely went a day without it in some kind of variety. This look isn’t bold compared to the other so it was way easier to wear it casually, and it still is to this day.

Being able to find something similar to what I used before has rekindled my love for make up a little bit, and I feel myself wanting to sit down in front of the mirror and play with the colors. Maybe I can end up with a blue and purple eye look too, or blue and gold.. or.. well, time will show! For now I’m just going to replicate this look over and over until i tire from it completely.

Disclaimer; Norway’s Glossybox might differ a bit from, for example, the american ones. We are very particular about products and everything apparently needs to be made for Nordic hair and skin and whatnot. Luckily we get products to try that we don’t necessarily see in stores here all the time. I’ve heard about a couple of the brands, mainly from watching other Glossybox unboxing videos. I also pay for the boxes out of my own pocket, so this post is not sponsored in any way.

This month’s box is a beautiful burgundy color, perfect for fall! Even if it’s September’s box, i feel like this would be more appropriate for October. I guess that doesn’t matter for me because i always receive the box the next month either way.

20161003_132520

In contrast to last month’s box which was extremely heavy, this one felt like nothing! Luckily it has some good quality products or else i would have been very disappointed.

20161003_132636

The BrowGal – Tonya Crooks
This is a clear and water resistant brow gel. I don’t have any brow gels so this will be nice to try. The size is pretty good, a full size is 6.5 ml and the one i received says it’s 5 ml so there isn’t much difference from the full sized product.

This is a deluxe sized sample. The full product (6.5 ml) is worth 195 NOK / ~$24.50

20161003_132727-png

504 Rose Gold Large Angled Brush – Luxie.
This is described as a soft, fluffy brush that is perfect for contour, blush or whatever else you use it for. It is vegan and cruelty free and i’m looking forward to using it.

This is a full sized product and it is worth 159 NOK / ~$20

20161003_132749

Golden skin roll-on caviar eye gel – Etre Belle
This is a roll-on for your under-eye bags and whatnot, it is cooling and calming and will make you look more awake.

This is a deluxe sized sample (10 ml), the full product (15 ml) is worth 395 NOK / ~$50

20161003_132913

Secret flush – Universal beauty
This is a blush and liptint in one. The product is really small so i would imagine it would be good for travelling. It is full sized however, even if the part i have screwed up in the picture above is the entirety of the product.

This is a full sized product and it is worth 199 NOK / ~$25

Colour attack foiled eyeshadow – Affect cosmetics
This is a beautiful eyeshadow. I love anything gold and metallic and this will be perfect for fall! It can also be used for highlighter since it’s very easy to layer up. I could honestly not have gotten a better color.

This is a full sized product and it is worth 59 NOK / ~$7

If all of the products were full sized, the total value for the box would have been 1007 NOK / ~$127, which would have been pretty insane since the box “only” costs 179 NOK / ~$21. The value is still pretty great since the products are so close to being full sized, so i’m not disappointed at all!

What would be on your top 5?

As per usual, the box this month is a pale pink with a black ribbon, and even if i have many already, i always keep the ribbons tied up to re-purpose them.

20160830_093033

There’s five items in my box and they all seem to have survived the shipping, which is always a plus! The box felt really heavy, and i quickly understood why when i saw the full sized body lotion. This month’s theme is “Beauty Kick”.

20160830_093154

The first thing i received was a really nice shade of eyeshadow from Nabla. It is a refill for a palette, so the pan is full size, and it is in the shade “Ground state”. It looks very brown in the picture but it is more purple in real life, on the website it is described as a “Hazelnut duo chrome with a lavender-mauve glare”. This product is vegan.

This is a full sized pan, and the value is 65 NOK / ~$8

20160830_093319

The next product i would describe as a deluxe size sample. It is a sample of a mask/primer/moisturizer from Thisworks. The full size is 40 ml while this sample is 20 so it’s half of the size. It is supposed to be an all round kind of primer and i’m looking forward to trying it.

This is a sample size worth around 180 NOK / ~21.50. The full size is  360 NOK / ~$43

20160830_093458

This is an eyebrow pencil from Model Launcher Cosmetics. It says in the info card in the box that i was supposed to receive the shade light brown, which would have been too light anyways, but it says Taupe on the pencil. I checked their website and Taupe was not an option so maybe it is a new shade? I’m pleased either way.

This is a full sized product and it is worth 120 NOK / ~$14.50

20160830_093605

Then there’s this product! I have already tried all of the other lotions in the Garnier respons line and this is a new product that is not out in stores yet. It smells kind of strange since it contains oat cream and almond milk, but it felt very moisturizing on my hands, at least.

This is a full sized product and it is worth 40 NOK / ~$5

20160830_093819

And last, but not least, i received a beautiful vegan lipstick from Medusa’s Make-up. It is in the shade “Sugar Daddy”, and to be honest, it is the perfect shade for my lips. It looks almost like a nude for me and i love it! The only downside is that it kind of smells like Crayola crayons, but I’m willing to look past that since the shade is so nice.

This is a full sized product and it is worth 110 NOK / ~$13 (it costs $12 on their website).

After the success with last months box i didn’t expect this one to exceed my expectations even further, but it did! I’m  blown away by the quality of the products, and how well they matched the colors i usually go for. Especially with the taupe eye brow pencil instead of light brown, which wouldn’t have worked for me at all.

The subscription costs 179 NOK / ~$21 per month and it includes shipping and handling. The total value for the box was 515 NOK / ~$62 so i am extremely pleased!
