Archives For l’oreal

When it comes to skincare, I rarely change how I do it, but I like switching out the products and trying new brands or items from brands I already know. I have been using the same products for a long time so I thought it was time to switch things out and try some new things out. Here’s what I got and my first impressions of them.

♥ Simple – Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water

This is a micellar water cleanser, and I love to use these. I have been using one from Garnier but I felt like it was time for something new. The major difference for me was that this one actually had a scent, compared to the Garnier one which was practically unscented. It’s not terrible though, and it does make my skin feel just as cleansed and nice as the other one did. So I’ll give it a 9/10.

♥ Nivea – Soothing Toner For Dry Skin

This one was a bit weird! It totally smells like the Nivea body lotion I used before so it was odd to have that scent for a toner. It is soothing though, and my skin feels a bit more hydrated and not as tight after using it so it works well enough. I used to use a tea tree toner water so having something that isn’t actively combatting breakouts and spots feels a bit weird but so far I haven’t noticed any changes in my skin. I’ll give this a 8/10.

♥ L’Oreal – Hydra Genius Aloe Water

This is a slightly weird one! It’s not a water, it’s not a cream and it is not a gel. I guess it’s like those water creams you hear about in k-beauty, but it is a nice texture. It feels slightly cooling on the skin and it does make my skin feel really hydrated, so I like it a lot! It is light weight and it works nicely under make up as long as you give it a few minutes to dry first, of course. I’ll give this a 9/10.

♥ Korres – Wild Rose Sleeping Facial Night Cream

This is a very floral scented night cream. I’m not sure what I expected from the scent wild rose but I didn’t expect it to be so potent. It’s not terrible though, it’s just a bit stronger than what I am used to. It is a fairly thick night cream so I only use a little bit at a time to avoid my skin from feeling too greasy the morning after. It works pretty well! I’ll give this one a 8/10.

♥ Dove – Nutrium Moisture Shower Cream Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena Scent

I adore Dove shower creams and milks and this is no exception! It smells so sweet and fresh at the same time and it is very hydrating and soothing to use in the shower. The scent lingers for a while too so that is a plus! I think all Dove shower creams would get an automatic 10/10 from me, I haven’t encountered any bad ones yet.

I also received a sample with my order, which was for the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser. I haven’t tried this yet since I am still getting used to the new products I’m using now, but I am very excited to give it a go after a while.

Have you tried any of these products? What do you think about them?

Following the beauty haul I did yesterday, plus saving other products to try them for a first impressions kind of post, I decided to fuse both into one. I have been really into blue shades lately, both in objects and in make up so after purchasing multiple blue items, I decided I wanted to test them out. I rarely go for a really bold eye look like this so I felt like I was kinda out of touch when doing it, it might look a bit sloppily done, honestly.

A darker blue in the crease, a bright blue on the lid, and a green-ish blue glitter liner.

I also used the glitter liner along the lower lash line but it smudged so easily.

It looks a tiny bit metallic and I love it!

What I was most happy about is that the look kind of made my dull, grey eyes look a tiny bit blue too! They are always so flat and look kind of lifeless so that was cool, at least I have found somewhat of an alternative to circle lenses to alter my eye color. Also excuse the resting bitch face, it’s just my natural state.

♥ Here’s what I used

  1. NYX Liquid Crystal Liner in “Jade” along the lash lines.
  2. A eye shadow packing brush for applying the darker blue shade in the crease. (nr 6.)
  3. A double ended angled brush for applying a darker eye shadow beneath the crystal liner to bring out the color.
  4. Technically an angled crease brush but it is great for blending. It’s from Eco Tools. The other brushes do not have a brand, it was a cheap set I bought on Wish.
  5. Nyx HD Banana Finishing Powder under the eyes and all over the face.
  6. Wet ‘n Wild Eye Shadow in “Lagoon”. Used in the crease.
  7. L’Oreal Color Riche Eye Color Pencil in “Ocean Blue”. Used all over the lid.

8. Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Foundation Powder in Light Beige.
9. Lush Eyes Right Mascara.
10. Mesauda 4ever Brows in “Cinnamon”.
11. Maybelline The Rock NUDES. Only used the marked shade beneath the crystal liner.

♥ And here’s my first impressions! (only including the new items)

NYX Crystal Liner in “Jade”;

It’s a clear liquid with ocean green glitter, basically. I thought it would be a colored liner with glitter chunks but it was definitely not! It did look pretty over a black shadow though and the glitter reflected the light beautifully. I did notice after a while that it made my eyes feel a tiny bit itchy so it’s probably not that great for sensitive eyes like my own.

L’Oreal Color Riche Eye Color Pencil in “Ocean Blue”;

This was extremely pigmented! I only had to lightly rub it all over my lid because it’s very creamy and easy to apply and it gave such a vivid color payoff! It is a bit hard to remove since it sticks to your lids so much but that just ensures that it stays on the whole day. This is a great product and I’m curious about the other shades in the same line.

Wet ‘n Wild Eye Shadow in “Lagoon”;

As expected, this darker blue shadow was somewhat less pigmented than the L’Oreal pencil. It was great for using in the crease to create more depth though and it blended out well. I probably wouldn’t use it on its own since it doesn’t have quite the right shade of blue that I’m looking for but I will continue using it as a crease color.

Mesauda 4ever Brows in “Cinnamon”;

The color wasn’t as much of a mismatch as I thought it would be, but it was waaay too hard. It hurt a lot when trying to use it, and at one time the tip of it broke off, something that sucks since it’s a micro pencil and they don’t come with too much product in the first place. I’m not sure if I would continue using this.

So that was it! Have you ever rocked blue eye shadow or any other bold colors?

Mini Make Up Haul

June 7, 2017 — 5 Comments

I was looking at an online drug store kind of thing for an oil treatment for my hair and ended up with these items too. One was on my beauty wishlist, the others I just couldn’t resist purchasing! Sometimes I think I need a little bit of self control to avoid ending up buying way too much make up. But, a girl has got to treat herself sometimes too, right? Luckily they had a 4-for-3 sale. Here’s what i got, with swatches included at the bottom!

♥NYX Liquid Crystal Liner in “Jade”.

This one was on my wishlist, and I have been wanting it for quite a while! It was also the very last one they had in stock. It was also the cheapest so I got it for free with their 4-for-3 deal. One thing to remember with this is to really shake it up before use because the glitter settles a bit in the bottom if it’s left unused for a longer period of time.

♥ NYX Butter Gloss in “Devil’s food cake”.

This is a creamy, buttery lip gloss that surprisingly doesn’t feel sticky at all! It is a purple shade, way more sheer in color than what I had thought since the packaging is so dark but it still looks very pretty. It’s not transfer proof or anything, which isn’t surprising since it is indeed a gloss.

♥ Mesauda Milano 4ever brows in “Cinnamon”.

This is a micro pencil for your brows that gives very thin and precise strokes. It feels a bit harder than other micro pencils I have used before but it still gives a nice result. The shade Cinnamon is a bit too red-ish brown for me but I can still make it work! Usually I use a very dark brown.

♥ L’Oreal Color Riche Eye Color Pencil in “Ocean Blue”.

This is one of those pencils that double as both a liner and as eye shadow. It feels very creamy and soft, and boy does it stick to your skin. When I was wiping away the swatches, the blue just wouldn’t come off! I guess that means that this will give you a stunning shade that lasts for ages! (At least that’s what I hope for it to do.)

Have you purchased anything fun or interesting lately? Or something you have been wanting for a while?

It always feels weird to make wishlists based on the season of the year, but some products just sound more tempting and more useful in the summer. Cooling products, for example, are great to use during the summer and I would definitely never use them during winter because it’s cold enough here already. I always feel like using lip products and brighter colors in the summer too, I suppose that is a norm for most people. But for me who usually only wear black and don’t care much for daily make up, it is strange indeed! I have incorporated more pink and blue into both my wardrobe and my make up and there’s a few more things I would love to purchase before summer is over. If I can ever convince myself to do so is a different story, but a girl can always dream! Is there anything you want for the summer? Here’s my somewhat short beauty wishlist at least!

  • Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipsticks in Dark Wine & Dark Pink Frost

  • NYX Liquid Crystal Liner Jade & Wet n Wild Megaslicks Lip Gloss Strawberry Ice

  • Max Factor Wild Shadow Pots Turqoise Fury & Brazen Charcoal

  • Nip+Fab Dragons Blood Fix Pads & Skinlite Cooling Cucumber Pads

Facial care Friday! 4/11

This week: L’Oreal Pure clay purify mask

The purifying mask is the first i have tried from L’oreal, from what i know, they released three different clay masks at the same time. In my local store they only had Purify and Glow, i think there is one for exfoliation too. I will get around to trying all of20160922_112519 them, eventually!

This one in particular is a light green color, and it is meant to purify your skin. When i applied it, it felt really cold, but it was a nice feeling once it started to dry up. However, the color it changed to while drying, a darker green, made it look like my face was moldy, so that is one thing i don’t particularly enjoy about this mask.

The mask contains three different types of clay, who in turn have different properties.

  • Kaolin, absorbs oil and preps the skin.
  • Montmorillonite, deals with impurities and helps with blood circulation.
  • Ghassoul, cleanses and exfoliates the skin.

The mask also contains eucalyptus, i suppose that is what gives off that cooling feeling on the skin. You’re supposed to have the mask on for 5 to 10 minutes, then wash it off. I found the washing off process to be the most difficult part. To actually get it off, i had to scrub pretty hard with my wash cloth and it left my face feeling red and kind of sore. I used a lot of water so that was not the problem. If it was easier to wash off, it would probably be better, for me, at least! Apart from that, it made my skin feel really refreshed and nice.

  • Easy to apply, and easy to clean if you accidentally make a mess.
  • Feels cooling for your skin
  • Makes your skin feel refreshed and clean afterwards
  • Is kind of a bargain, i can get several uses out of it, and the price is not bad.

  • A bit hard to remove after the allotted time is up
  • Can be uncomfortable if you’re not used to masks drying up and making your face kind of stiff
  • The color it changes to, not appealing to have moldy cheeks.

Have you tried their clay masks? What do you think about them?
